Thurman Events 2011

Please note that Thurman Town Hall (TTH) and Veterans’ Memorial Field (VMF) are located at 311 Athol Road, Athol, NY 12810. The town hall is wheelchair accessible, as is the field. While bus groups are welcomed at most of our events, it is strongly advised that organizers prearrange. Guests should bring chairs or blankets to Veterans’ Memorial Field. PLEASE NOTE - August 12 – 14 ~ Thurman Woodsmen’s Competition has been canceled due to the time required to deal with the aftermath of our Memorial Day Weekend flash floods in Thurman. Check back next year and we’ll be revving up our chainsaws. 623-9649 or thurmansupervisor@verizon.net.

Tuesday, September 6 ~ Other Realm Investigations presents "Thurman's History Hauntings." Saturday and Sunday, October 8th – 9th ~ Thurman Fall Farm Tour – and So Much More!*, all over Athol/Thurman, hours to be announced, free; 518-623-9595 or martinslumber@hotmail.com . Visit farms and activity sites all over Thurman. Event is expected to include craft show, old engines &tractors, geocaching for the experienced and novice, barn dance, business expo, tours of goat farm, sugarhouses, horse training demo, sugarbushes,  tree farm; demonstrations and special activities at the sites. 9 a.m. Pancake breakfast at Valley Road Maple Farm. To attend events at Thurman Town Hall (TTH) or Veterans’ Memorial Field (VMF): from Northway exit 23 (Warrensburg), proceed north on Rt. 9, left on Rt. 418, over and along and back over the river for 3.5 miles to Athol Road on the right. Take Athol Road to Thurman Town Hall (311 Athol Road) and Veterans’ Memorial Field. From The Glen, leave NYS Route 28 at The Glen Lodge & Market, following Glen-Athol Road about 6 miles to the second stop sign. Turn left (Athol Road) and find Town Hall and Veterans’ Memorial Field on your right in less than half a mile.
