Persis Granger is a freelance writer who has authored "Adirondack Gold", and "Adirondack Gold II: A Summer of Strangers," novels set in 1890s Thurman, written for kids aged 12 to 99. Her "Adirondack Gold Teacher's Guide" was written to help teachers who are using "Adirondack Gold" in the classroom. Schools have used the novel from grades 5 through 8. Granger also edited and co-authored "Shared Stories from Daughters of Alzheimer's: Writing a Path to Peace", which has been dubbed a "support group in print" for families dealing with Alzheimer's disease. Granger co-edits the "Quarterly" published by The John Thurman Historical Society, writes articles for magazines and newspapers, and presents programs for youth and adults. She hosts the Fiction Among Friends series of writers' retreats for emerging authors.
